About

Charles Prokop is the chronicler of Dry Creek Hill. He lives on the 8 acres while the town of Dry Creek Hill lives in his books. Sometimes he has trouble knowing which one is real.

Prokop grew up in Houston, earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and practiced and taught in medical schools and universities. He climbed the academic ladder through faculty senate and department chair positions. After some years as dean he jumped off and landed in an RV. He’s been happier ever since.

Charles Prokop and his wife, Loretta, lived and travelled in their RV for several years. They eventually settled in the Texas Hill Country on the 8 acres they’ve come to call Dry Creek Hill. They’ve been there over 20 years now.

Prokop played a lot of golf, tended to his property, and cared for a lot of cats. He also wrote a golf column for the local papers, and he still contributes to a local online paper. He dabbled in writing fiction, accumulated a collection of unedited and unpublished work, and generally did everything he could to avoid facing up to actually finishing the job.

He’s finally surrendered, and the books you can find through this website are the result. More are in the works.

Loretta Prokop is his wife and co-conspirator. She spends as much of her time as possible on her photography, and her work may be found on this website and at her Flickr site.
